Job Summary

The Client Development Manager (CDM) is a highly competitive sales oriented individual who will be responsible for sourcing, qualifying, and closing targeted Managed Logistics opportunities through a consultative sales process. The CDM will research businesses throughout the United States with specific shipment volume, multiple locations and/or technology integration needs. The CDM will prepare selling strategies to target accounts via telephone cold calls, emails, and internet marketing. The CDM will develop opportunities, set up and run sales meetings via phone, web and face to face with potential clients. The CDM is ultimately responsible for new business growth by closing opportunities with a multi-year contract. 


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Build target list of organizations that fit our ideal customer profile via CRM, internet, trade publication, and lead source research
  • Leverage tools such as CRM, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator to research, connect, and network with target accounts to build a pipeline
  • Prospect for and engage with high level decision makers (C-Level Suite)
  • Overcome technical and business objections of prospective customers
  • Effectively manage pipeline and prospects
  • 75-100 phone calls and 30 emails minimum per day prospecting for new clients
  • Attain 5 signed transportation management agreements per year
  • Generate a minimum of $250,000 in new calendar year GP each year
  • Set up and run “Discovery Calls”, “Overview Calls”, “Data Analysis Reviews” and “Proposals”
  • Will require some travel and after hour conversations due to time zones (Approx. 25%)


  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 or more years of B2B sales in consultative, transportation or a similar technical industry is required
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and other software applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills over the phone, through written communication, and in person
  • Ability to set and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate with and persuade C-Level suite
  • Strong analytical skills
