Job Summary

This role is responsible for the development of the Refrigerated Team and all Team Leads, Carrier Sales Reps and carriers within the reefer division. 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee assigned Team Leads, Carrier Sales Reps and Interns
    • Monitor call volume and carrier development numbers
    • Teach proper carrier qualification and sales techniques
    • Perform applicable HR and administrative duties
    • Conduct monthly reviews
  • Manage freight within assigned geographical region:
    • Ensure proper load coverage and attention with a sense of urgency
    • Communicate with channel leads to organize and prioritize the load board
    • Follow load posting protocol
    • Monitor Expected Carrier Costs on committed loads
    • Assist in creating pricing strategies for current and potential customer opportunities
  • Consult with channel sales reps on spot opportunities
  • Assist in developing and updating regional pricing
  • Monitor and communicate market and capacity trends
    • Proactively shift carrier development needs when applicable
  • Direct regional carrier development initiatives
    • High volume lanes
    • Customer opportunities
    • Problem lanes
    • Niche markets
    • Targeted carriers
    • New carrier set-ups
  • Facilitate team meetings where appropriate

Qualifications:

 

  • 2+ years selling freight as carrier sales rep
  • Extensive carrier portfolio development and management
  • Possess a good understanding of pricing and bid package process
  • Display a strong fundamental approach to load board management
