Job Summary

The Carrier Compliance Specialist I screens, onboards, and monitors transportation service providers (“carriers”) within BlueGrace’s carrier network, verifying each carrier’s compliance to BlueGrace’s internally established criteria, which meet or exceed the requirements that govern transportation brokerage throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Carrier Compliance Specialist I position works to support the Legal and Risk Management teams to assess and identify potential risks around the carrier selection of transportation service providers.

 

Daily Tasks & Responsibilities:

 

  • Screen and onboard new transportation service providers
  • Monitor existing transportation service providers
  • Reviews and assists the Director of Risk Management with issue escalations from customers, carriers, vendors, and internal cross-departments
  • Approve, reject, or limit transportation service providers based on analysis of documentation, internal policies, and other industry information, notifying appropriate parties of decisions when applicable
  • Routinely review transportation service providers for changes in safety information, licensure, insurance, and other relevant information
  • Ensure continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service both internally and externally
  • Reviews and assists the Carrier Compliance Specialist II or III in identifying compliance problems that call for formal attention
  • Escalate issues to management when unsure how to proceed
  • Maintain an operational awareness of the rules, regulations and laws that govern commercial transportation throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico

 

Essential Skills, Characteristics, & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of transportation experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication, time management, and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, perform under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Strong presentation skills over the phone, through written communication, and in person
  • Work with little or no supervision, and work well in a team setting
