Role Overview
Bridge the gap between business stakeholders and the Data/Analytics team by gathering, documenting, and prioritizing data and reporting requirements. Manage the team's backlog and ensure alignment between business needs and technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct stakeholder interviews across business departments to identify data, reporting, and analytics needs
- Document current state data issues, pain points, and reporting gaps
- Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications
- Prioritize and groom backlog items in Azure DevOps, creating well-defined user stories
- Organize sprint planning and manage work assignments for data projects
- Facilitate communication between business users and technical team members
- Evaluate reporting requests to determine appropriate tools (Tableau, Power BI, Python, etc.)
- Track project progress, identify blockers, and ensure timely delivery of solutions
- Validate delivered solutions meet business requirements and coordinate UAT when time permits
- Maintain documentation of business processes, data definitions, and reporting specifications
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and data-driven decision making
- Support other IT projects during periods of lower data team demand
Required Skills
- 3+ years as a Business Analyst, preferably supporting data, analytics, or BI teams
- Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar project management tools
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and vice versa
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and sprint-based workflows
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple initiatives
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with data and analytics concepts (data warehousing, ETL, BI tools)
- Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and understanding queries
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar reporting platforms
- Background in logistics, supply chain, or 3PL operations
- Experience conducting cross-departmental business process assessments
